With extensive operating experience across multiple industry verticals, Matt excels at strategy, corporate development, operational execution and building cut-through challenger brands in incumbent-dominated markets.
Matt has worked in an executive capacity as Head of Revenue, GTM & Strategic Partnerships at CIMET (a strategic investment of iSelect), Acting Head of Growth at Amfin (a bootstrapped scale-up), General Manager of Strategic Partnerships at Open (venture-capital backed by Airtree Ventures), and as a founding employee of Zip Co’s Zip Business unit, after building the Australian ops of online SME lender Spotcap (acquired by Zip Co).
Prior to moving into tech, in corporate life, Matt was trained at Gilbert + Tobin, worked as a banker at ABN AMRO in Amsterdam across structured finance and principal investments and in consulting as a Global Industry Analyst at EY.
Actively involved in the Australian start-up community Matt has been a mentor at Stone & Chalk, an instructor at General Assembly, an Expert at WeWork Labs and serves as a Strategic Advisor to start-ups such Instant (payments), Citizen Wolf (ESG) & Lumiate (AI). He is Startmate Fellow, having completed both the High Performance Fellowship and Climate Tech Investing Fellowship.
Matthew holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Commerce from The University of Sydney (with study abroad at Stanford University in Silicon Valley) and is a part-time Lecturer in the Disciple of Strategy, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, where he serves as the Business School’s Entrepreneur-in-Residence and Head of the Genesis program for start-ups (which he restructured).
Matt enjoys sailing (member of the CYCA - Cruising Yacht Club of Australia) hiking, is a yoga and pilates devotee and collects contemporary art and emerging Australian wine producers.
